Doula/CHA Support

WHAT IS A COMMUNITY DOULA/CHA?

As a part of this new program, our amazing community doulas have undergone rigorous training to serve as community health advocates (CHA) in addition to providing the excellent care Frontline Doulas are known for.

Doula/CHA’s will:

  • Provide family centered services, that are trauma informed, to encourage safe and respectful care to birthing communities that have been historically marginalized.

  • Support birthing people in prenatal visits, labor, and delivery, and post-partum follow up.

  • Provide physical, culturally appropriate emotional, and informational support.

  • Conduct screenings prior to the birth, for emotional wellness and health concerns.

  • Provide referrals to any needed mental health, trauma-targeted or social service needs.

A NO COST culturally responsive doula support program to drive equitable health outcomes for Black families and infants in Los Angeles County.

Our mission is to support the connection between Black doulas and Black birthing families in need of non-medical emotional support and practical guidance on common pregnancy and postpartum related concerns.

Frontline Doula Community Health Advocate (Doula/CHA) Program is a part of the Maternal Child Health Equity Initiative from Blue Shield.

This program is funded with the support of Community Investment funds from Blue Shield of California.

Our producing fiscal sponsor, Diversity Uplifts, Inc. works wholeheartedly to address the needs of Black birthing families.

The Maternal Child Health Equity Initiative will assist in transforming the perpetual racial health inequities and racially biased maternal care gaps by addressing maternal care needs and maternal health disparities. The program's goal is to develop prenatal and postpartum support systems, improving access to critical maternal care services, and providing social need resource referrals.
